Kung-Fu Pool Empty Kung-Fu Pool

Post by Jim Sun Oct 02, 2016 2:19 pm

It was Friday, one of the days the guys assembled at the senior center for an afternoon of pool. And I had a free day to do anything I wanted....

I arrived at 12:30 and there was a gentleman just standing there with the balls already racked, waiting for someone. Anyone. His name was Elmer. When I asked him if he wanted to play, he smiled as he helped me pick out a cue stick.

I was a little disappointed that Apache, Bill and Max never made it in that day since we had so much fun playing partners last time I stopped by. But Elmer was just as charming and fun to play against...

Then John showed up.

John...a tiny Asian guy with little bare feet sliding around in oversized sandals, wearing an extra large Hawaiian shirt. His mastery of the English language was pretty much limited to "pocket" and "ball." But he usually got the right ball in the right pocket. We just had to be sure not to stand too close to him while he shot because afterwards, he'd whip that cue stick around like he was in some Kung-fu movie. Sheesh!!!

No one else showed up that day so we just took turns playing the winner for 3 hours.

Fun!!! Everyone's idea of it differs but shooting pool is definitely one of mine. Maybe next time I'll pack a couple coronas...

Now you're talkin', Marn...
